Our Work
Coming from a textile family, I’ve seen both the beauty and the burden of the industry — the craftsmanship, the heritage, and also the enormous waste it leaves behind. Even as a child, I used to walk through the mills and wonder what happened to all the discarded scraps lying around. Years later, when I learned how much of this fabric ends up in landfills, I knew I had to do something about it.
That’s how Avani began, not as a business idea, but as a quiet rebellion against waste. I began collecting leftover textile scraps from tailors and factories, experimenting late at night with patterns and stitches to give them a second life. I failed many times. The first few bags didn't even hold together. But each failure taught me something about the strength of fabric, and of purpose.
Over time, I built a small team of local artisans and taught myself how to turn this waste into durable, functional, and beautiful bags. It wasn’t easy, the logistics, the consistency, the skepticism, but I stayed committed.
Today, each Avani bag weighs about 200 grams and replaces more than 100 single-use plastic bags. Through this small act, I’ve prevented over 7 tonnes of plastic waste and recycled 2,000 kilograms of discarded fabric. Many of these bags were given away free to underprivileged communities, schools, and local vendors because I believe sustainability should never be a luxury. It should be a right, shared by everyone.
